Ooni lays OAU ‘Knowledge Park’ foundation

 The Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, on Wednesday, performed the ground-breaking of the Obafemi Awolowo University TechExcel Foundation (OTF), otherwise known as “Knowledge Park,” which is the first in Africa, to stimulate job creation and facilitate new method of production.

Oba Sijuwade, at the ceremony, noted that the OTF would promote science and research that would be of immense benefits to mankind.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Michael Faborode, said the ‘Knowledge Park’ was a special component of science and technology, which would transform the country in term of industrial research, to be disemminated from the centre.

Professor Faborode said the OTF would create jobs for youths, while the surrounding communities would find fulfillment at the park.

The vice chancellor, who said the dream of the founding fathers of the university was being fulfilled with the establishment of the park, stated that it would transform the country in items of industrial growth, as it would facilitate the introduction and dissemination of new production methods and technologies.
