OAU Governing Council Visits Ooni, Receives Royal Blessings

THE Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, has reinstated his readiness to continue supporting anybody or group of people willing to use their talents, intellect and resources to project the image of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, to the outside world.

The monarch gave the commitment last week when the newly inaugurated governing council of the institution paid him a courtesy visit in his palace.

Led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Roland Ndoma-Egba, the royal father charged the council members to use their individual wealth of experience to collectively take OAU to a much greater height, so that the institution can retain its towering height among the comity of universities in Africa and the world at large.

He thanked them for visiting him and showered them with royal blessings, praying that OAU will witness unprecedented progress and development during their tenure. Oba Sijuwade observed that the personality of the chairman and workaholic nature of his team would make the job of the

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bamitale Omole, much easier.

Earlier, Ndoma-Egba, who was visiting the palace for the third time, commended the Ooni for using his royalty to bring positive changes to Ile-Ife, Osun State and Yoruba race in general.

The chairman, who acknowledged the peace-making role and invaluable contributions of Ooni to the overall development of OAU, stated that his team would do all they could for OAU, not only to maintain its first position among Nigerian varsities, but also be the best in Africa.
